About The Position

We are searching for a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in our Diagnostic Imaging Unit –someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting and provide nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. Texas Children’s Radiology Department has earned the gold standard in accreditation from the ACR for our medical imaging expertise. These gold seals of accreditation signify our achievement as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) – the highest achievement for medical imaging facilities. Think you have what it takes ok with part time (Saturday/Sunday: 7a-5pm plus 1 weekday per week: 7a-4pm) knowledge of critical thinking skills, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in nursing enrolled
  • Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification
  • 9 months year of professional nursing experience
  • preparing patients for imaging procedures like X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, monitoring their vital signs during the procedure
  • administering medications like sedation if needed, and educating patients about what to expect before and after the test
  • focus on patient care throughout the imaging process while collaborating with radiologists and imaging technicians
  • As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental (age-appropriate), culture, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner
  • Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problems, and detects changes in patient status
  • Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient’s condition; communicates this information and documents in the medical record
  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical record
  • Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate
  • Assess patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teaching
  • Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members
  • Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance
  • Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives
