About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients in the Mother-Baby unit. This role involves assessing patient needs, formulating care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The RN II is expected to demonstrate clinical expertise, effective communication, and a commitment to patient advocacy while working in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • One year recent experience in Mother-Baby/Perinatal/Post Partum or completion of a KP MomBaby Training Program within the past 12 months.
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program and completion of the current hours required by the BRN of RN student clinical experience.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service orientation.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of breastfeeding education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on various patient statuses.
  • Formulate a goal-directed plan of care when appropriate.
  • Implement care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
  • Establish priorities for patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
  • Identify patient/family learning needs and act to meet them.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to patient/family rights and cultural beliefs.
  • Provide/coordinate care for patients and patient populations.
  • Establish effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care given by healthcare team members.
  • Utilize effective communication methods and skills, following lines of authority as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and apply safety principles as identified within the institution.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency patient care situations following established protocols.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
  • Participate regularly in staff development activities for unit and department personnel.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management.
  • Participate in unit and Department Performance Improvement activities as directed.
  • Participate in nursing research activities as requested.
  • Identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Demonstrate a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Provide data for staffing decisions and demonstrate flexibility in staffing issues.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities for documentation.
