About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) II in the Modesto NICU is a professional caregiver responsible for providing comprehensive care to neonatal patients. This role involves assessing patient needs, formulating care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The RN II is expected to demonstrate clinical expertise, effective communication, and a commitment to patient advocacy while working in a fast-paced environment during night shifts and on-call duties.

Requirements

  • One year recent experience in Neonatal Level III nursery or completion of a KP NICU Training Program within the last 12 months.
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program with required clinical experience hours.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Maternal Child Health/Family Centered Care areas.
  • Additional certifications in specialty areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing assessment and data collection focusing on various patient statuses.
  • Formulate goal-directed plans of care based on assessments.
  • Implement care consistently and skillfully.
  • Establish care priorities based on patient needs and available resources.
  • Identify and address patient/family learning needs.
  • Demonstrate awareness of patient/family rights and cultural needs.
  • Coordinate care for patients and establish effective working relationships with the healthcare team.
  • Delegate and coordinate duties among healthcare team members.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by the healthcare team.
  • Utilize effective communication methods and skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles in patient care.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols.
  • Participate in staff development activities and nursing research as needed.
  • Document patient care and unit activities accurately and timely.
