About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department works under the supervision of the Director. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individualized care in a patient care area according to departmental policies and procedures and the Nurse Practice Act. The nurse will individualize patient care based on age-appropriate and developmental needs and will accept responsibility for directing co-workers in the implementation of the care plan. Collaboration with physicians, patients/families, and members of the healthcare team is essential in delivering a comprehensive plan of care. The nurse must utilize positive communication skills and may be required to work on other nursing units based on staff and patient distribution. Demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit is crucial.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current California RN license.
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.
• Twelve (12) or more months of service as a registered nurse in an acute care setting or specialty facility within three (3) years.
• Must successfully complete SVH Pharmacology test upon hire.
