About The Position

The Staff Nurse I is a professional caregiver responsible for the comprehensive assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care at Seton Medical Center. This role emphasizes compliance with care standards and the Nurse Practice Act, ensuring that patients and their families receive high-quality nursing care tailored to their individual needs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current California licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Knowledgeable of the California Nursing Practice Act.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, collect, and document health assessment data focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient.
  • Plan nursing care based on priority of physical and psychosocial-emotional needs, developing realistic short-term goals for each problem.
  • Implement the plan of care including prescribed procedures and treatments, organizing and prioritizing care based on individual needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care delivered to reach expected outcomes, documenting the patient's status and response accurately.
  • Utilize professional nursing knowledge to assess physical and psychosocial-emotional needs, barriers to learning, and discharge needs.
  • Analyze patient-related data to determine appropriate care, utilizing advanced knowledge and skills for Emergency Services patients.
  • Provide health education and teaching to patients and families, ensuring understanding of discharge and follow-up instructions.
  • Perform nursing procedures such as IV initiation, medication administration, and patient teaching within scope of practice.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency medical situations, initiating appropriate emergency treatment and communicating critical information to team members.
  • Remain current on treatments and practices through continuing education and professional literature review.
  • Integrate new knowledge from education and research into clinical practice, demonstrating competence in age-related patient care.
  • Advocate for public health and safety through patient and family education, consistently completing required documentation.
  • Demonstrate caring and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and staff.
