At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman is currently looking for an experienced Staff, Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer that will be responsible for weapon system simulations both models and as software products, integrating these simulations with other applications, and for using these simulations to verify weapon system requirements. The successful candidate will perform formal and/or informal leadership roles within our modeling and simulation team. The candidate will work with our C++ based simulations of the AARGM family of missiles with a diverse set of engineers. The candidate will assist in verifying and updating physics-based models written in C++, using simulations that include these models to verify our missile systems, assist with our CI/CD pipelines and build processes, and take ownership over miscellaneous deliveries. The candidate will have opportunities to work with both GNC and sensor algorithms and models. Other technical tasks may include assisting in developing weapon systems requirements verifications, developing scenarios to verify those requirements, analyzing the results using MATLAB or python tools, and digging into the C++ source code of the simulation to track down reasons for apparent requirements failures. The candidate may also do extensive testing of the simulations themselves to verify their suitability for weapon systems requirements verification. Later tasks will vary between software-centric or analysis-centric. The ideal candidate will have a background in physics, and professional experience in both software engineering and systems engineering, or experience specific to modeling and simulation.
