Requirements

  • Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical/fluid systems, preferably in defense or automotive sectors
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical team oversight or project engineering
  • Expertise in fluid system architecture, schematic design, troubleshooting, and performance analysis
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling tools, preferably NX and/or Creo
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup or similar PLM systems
  • Experience with ground combat vehicles or similar high-reliability, mission-critical platforms
  • Understanding of fabrication, welding, and shock/vibration system integration
  • Ability to manage subsystem/component-level requirements and deliver designs that meet customer contracts
  • Ability to climb on/off and work within military vehicle platforms; must pass Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR)
  • Occasional evening/weekend overtime as needed
  • Up to 10% travel to support testing, builds, or customer locations
  • This is a 100% on-site position due to the hands-on nature of the work

Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate fluid-based subsystems (e.g., hydraulic actuation, pneumatics, fuel systems, fire suppression, cooling distribution, winch/fairlead systems).
  • Translate vehicle-level performance requirements into subsystem/component designs aligned with safety, environmental, ballistic, and blast constraints.
  • Decompose requirements, conduct design analysis, and release components, mechanisms, and shock attenuation systems.
  • Perform material selection, weld design, mounting provisions, and mechanical analysis using industry tools.
  • Support drawing reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and source data for engineering changes.
  • Write material and shop work requests, track hardware deliveries, and support integration reviews and prototype builds.
  • Lead and mentor engineers, standardize design approaches, conduct peer reviews, and represent the team to customers and leadership.
  • Perform failure analysis, troubleshoot, and redesign components as needed.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to meet program goals.
  • Present technical updates and risk assessments clearly to program management.
