The Mechanical Engineer will work with their support staff to develop requirements, lead design efforts and formal design reviews, and equipment verification for mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE), including handling, lifting, testing, assembly, and transportation of mechanical, electrical, and RF components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, material properties & selection, and analysis techniques.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical design/or manufacturing, including interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with CAD tools (CREO, Solidworks, etc...) and experience with model-based definition.
  • Working knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards and its application in design and drafting.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional, multidisciplinary product development teams.
  • Holding or the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance. US Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, AIAA, and AWS standards applicable to mechanical and structural systems.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience, including ownership of deliverables within multidisciplinary teams..
  • Knowledge of LM Space command media.
  • Experience creating test plans and interpreting their results to validate requirements.
  • Experience with mitigating structural fatigue and developing a detailed hardware lifecycle plan.

Responsibilities

  • Use Creo to develop models, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Direct multidisciplinary team members with design direction adhering to equipment requirements.
  • Lead design reviews to present the designs to stakeholder for approval.
  • Conduct on-site verification of as-built hardware.
