As a Staff Mechanical Engineer on Stryker's Neurosurgical New Product Development team, you will play a key role in designing and developing innovative medical devices that enhance patient care globally. This position supports the Integrated Systems & Smart Accessories team within the Neurosurgical business unit, focusing on the development of Stryker's next-generation Highspeed Drill Platform. You'll be involved throughout the entire product development cycle-from concept through launch-collaborating with cross-functional R&D teams to deliver high-quality, impactful solutions using sound engineering practices. You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office for this hybrid position. You will need to be onsite a minimum of three days a week, with flexibility to work from home on other days.

  • Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision
  • Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions
  • Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance
  • Identify and resolve complex design issues using sound engineering judgment
  • Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field)
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Proficiency in engineering drawing creation and application of GD&T
  • Experience with CAE tools and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to communicate technical plans to cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment
