About The Position

As a Staff Materials Scientist - Battery R D, you will work with a team of scientists and technologists to deliver and maintain a robust pipeline of innovations to maintain Energizer's technological leadership and competitiveness in the battery industry.

Requirements

  • Master's in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant lab experience.
  • Capable of working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Up to 20% domestic and international travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Previous experience in the application of materials science to battery and/or electrochemical systems.
  • Team leadership, Stage Gate Protocol, Design for Six Sigma, Statistics and Design of Experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts and conducts experiments to identify and characterize new & improved battery electrode materials to improve performance or reduce cost.
  • Assess existing and improved electrode materials and the processes used to apply them to battery systems.
  • Understand the factors that limit electrochemical performance and makes recommendations to optimize the performance.
  • Utilize a Stage Gate-based Project Management approach, from early concept to start of production, to deliver against timelines and milestones aligned with the Marketing Cycle Plan and customer requirements.
  • Work in a team environment across multiple disciplines, culminating in regular written documentation and oral presentations which both assess and record the progress of the work.
  • Provide technical direction of non-exempt colleagues, leadership of cross functional teams, and makes technical recommendations to R D leadership.
  • Remain cognizant of the pertinent technical literature, while following developments in the field of materials science and applies those developments to improved battery materials, processes and products.
  • Monitor and provides technical analysis of competitor product improvements and recommends program direction to maintain competitiveness.
  • Participate in establishing Intellectual Property related to assigned programs.
  • Practice proper safety procedures, provide leadership to others in key result areas, and participate in continuous improvement activities, serving as a team member as required.
