About The Position

The Executive Branch is recruiting to fill a Staff Management Auditor position in Sacramento County. Under the general direction of the Audit Chief (CEA), the Staff Management Auditor is responsible for planning, leading, and supervising a small group of auditors; and conducting the most complex external and internal audits for the department. This position requires extensive knowledge and understanding of all accounting systems; electronic and manual data processing systems; and an understanding of the accounting standards, such as Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS); as well as government laws, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of all accounting systems.
  • Understanding of electronic and manual data processing systems.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
  • Understanding of government laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, supervise, and direct the work and day to day activities of professional auditing staff.
  • Review and evaluate work performance, set work standards and goals, provide guidance and leadership, coaching and mentoring, and take corrective action when appropriate.
  • Conduct and supervise audits of the District Agricultural Associations upon request of the Fairs and Expositions Branch (F&E).
  • Reason logically and creatively to resolve complex programmatic and procedural problems; develop and evaluate alternatives; present ideas and information; consult with management on programmatic issues and establish and maintain program priorities.
  • Perform quality control reviews of audit workpapers and audit reports prepared by fellow auditors assigned to the engagement.
  • Verify the accuracy of audit findings and recommendations with audit work papers.
  • Resolve issues of concerns and discuss audits with management and other officials interested in the audit program.
  • Train and participate in the development of the audit staff to ensure consistency with processes and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with interdepartmental staff and control agencies and external entities on issues impacting the program audits.
  • Inform the F&E of audit concerns as encountered.
