About The Position

GeoEngineers, Inc. is seeking Staff Geotechnical Engineers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The role involves performing geotechnical engineering activities, coordinating field explorations and construction projects, and ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety guidelines. Responsibilities include completing detailed field reports, assisting with training junior staff, supporting project management tasks, managing small projects under supervision, gathering field data, coordinating samples for testing, and completing engineering analyses. The position also requires developing conceptual models, preparing deliverables, and assisting with technical report generation. Domestic travel to project sites may be required up to 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • 2 years of experience as a Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Engineer, or in a related geotechnical/civil engineering occupation.
  • 6 months of experience working with MathCAD, ArcGIS, GeoStudio Suite, FLAC, MODFLOW, Plaxis, or other related software.
  • Completion of coursework covering soil mechanics and foundation design.
  • Must be a U.S. worker (includes U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and others granted temporary residence).

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical engineering activities.
  • Coordinate the observation of field explorations and construction projects.
  • Complete detailed, accurate field reports.
  • Assist with training junior technical and technician staff.
  • Support project management tasks such as budget planning and proposal development.
  • Manage small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer or scientist.
  • Gather field data and samples for related projects.
  • Coordinate samples for testing.
  • Support the completion of permit applications and habitat/site characterization.
  • Complete engineering analyses and calculations within assigned discipline.
  • Develop moderately complex conceptual models under supervision.
  • Prepare deliverables such as memos and reports.
  • Provide occasional quality assurance/control support.
  • Complete moderately complex spatial analyses.
  • Develop project-related deliverables related to GIS data.
  • Assist project team members in making basic design decisions.
  • Assist with the generation of technical reports.
