About The Position

The Staff Geotechnical Engineer at GeoEngineers, Inc. in San Diego, California, is responsible for performing geotechnical engineering activities. This includes leading or coordinating the observation of field explorations and construction projects, ensuring that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines. The engineer will complete detailed, accurate field reports and assist with the coordination of field exploration programs. Additionally, the role involves supporting project management tasks such as budget planning, general field report reviews, and proposal development. The engineer will manage small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer or scientist as required, gather field data and samples for related projects, and coordinate samples for testing. The position also requires supporting the completion of permit applications according to appropriate local, state, and federal guidelines, completing engineering analyses and calculations within the assigned discipline, and developing moderately complex conceptual models under the supervision of a licensed engineer. The engineer will prepare deliverables such as memos and reports, provide occasional quality assurance/control support, and ensure that deliverables are submitted to the project manager in a timely manner. The role may require domestic travel to project sites up to 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 1 year of experience as a Research/Teaching Assistant, Engineer, Engineering Intern, or in a related geotechnical/civil engineering occupation.
  • Experience must include 6 months using Ensoft (LPile and APile), Rocscience (Settle3), Bluebeam, MathCAD, GeoStudio Suite, Microsoft Studio Suite, SupportIT, FLAC, Civil 3D, Plaxis, or other related software.
  • Completion of coursework covering Advanced Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, and either Numerical Modeling or Finite Elements.
  • Must be a U.S. worker.
