The Staff Geologist / Scientist I position at Roux Associates, Inc. is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to environmental investigation and remediation projects. This role involves assisting the project team and Project Manager by providing essential field support and technical assistance. The successful candidate will engage in various field activities, including the calibration of sampling and monitoring equipment, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, and remediation monitoring. The position is primarily field-based, requiring the ability to work independently or as part of a larger team at various project sites, such as industrial facilities and construction projects. Candidates will be expected to perform routine field activities safely, applying proper sampling techniques for all environmental media and overseeing subcontractors. The role also includes assisting in the preparation and review of data tables, soil boring logs, and figures, contributing to the technical reports that document project findings. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a general enthusiasm for environmental work, along with entry-level data evaluation and analytical skills. Physical demands of the job include the ability to drive to different project sites, physically move around outdoors in various terrains, and work in adverse weather conditions. The position may require extended or irregular hours, and involves the use of hand-held monitoring instruments and tools, necessitating the ability to lift and carry objects, stand, walk, reach, bend, squat, kneel, and twist.
