As a Staff Firmware Engineer, you will develop and advance high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory. This role is located in Longmont, CO. It offers an outstanding chance to work on groundbreaking projects that improve data storage performance and reduce power use, latency, and SoC complexity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical area.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in embedded firmware development.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python and extensive use of scripting languages, programming tools, and environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of storage interfaces, particularly PCIe/NVMe, and experience with NAND flash and other non-volatile storage technologies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and under the pressure of multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical area.
  • Experience in the storage industry, specifically with SSDs, HDDs, storage systems, or related technologies.
  • Expertise in analog and digital hardware and software operating systems.
  • Prior experience leading teams or supervising engineers and technicians with less experience.
  • Familiarity with programming in machine language, assembly language, and high-level languages such as C and C++.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement firmware solutions for new high-performance memory controllers and SSDs.
  • Conduct detailed evaluation, creation, bench testing, debugging, and failure analysis of firmware.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to address and resolve product development challenges.
  • Triage failures, file detailed bug reports, and support development teams in isolating and troubleshooting issues.
