As a Staff Firmware Engineer on the Perception and Safety R&D Team, you will join a small cross-functional group developing robotic technologies that will enable our robots to operate safely around people and in the environment utilizing sensors on dedicated computing platforms. You will have the opportunity to help deploy embodied AI/ML systems safely around people. In this role you will write high integrity software that runs on our robots, implement critical functions, and create a safety-critical software stack that will unlock the ability for human-robot collaboration. Working on a small team, you'll have the opportunity to take end-to-end ownership of new systems which will become part of our future products. How you will make an impact: Design, create, and validate embedded software which helps to ensure our robots can operate safely in the presence of people Work at the boundaries of hardware and software to unite the many components of a robot into a single functioning system that is performant and fault tolerant Lead cross-functional technical projects involving interdisciplinary efforts to develop robotic perception and computing sub-systems Integrate and evaluate new systems with our robots to test and deliver safe robotics. Help build the infrastructure and operations for a unique small R&D team inside of Boston Dynamics working closely together to unlock new capabilities for our robots.
