This is an onsite position in our Oceanside, CA facility. JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, plan, develop, and execute major ($500k+) complex engineering, maintenance, and facilities projects. Conduct design specifications, implementation, testing and evaluation of project components within the area of engineering expertise. Provide day-to-day leadership and training to maintenance employees, technical staff, and interns, as needed, including contractors to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. Provide guidance, direction and mentoring of project staff including Engineers, Maintenance, and outside contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline; and minimum 8 years' directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPE Certification, required.
  • Working knowledge of operations, services and activities of building maintenance, repair and construction programs., including materials, methods, terminology and tools used in building structures and systems used in performing finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical and painting projects.
  • Principles of coaching and training; ideologies of safety management.
  • Ability to work independently as well in small or large group and foster cooperation in a team environment using interpersonal skills to influence others.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and create a repeatable thought process to question and confidently approach a solution.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems with minimal oversight.
  • Exceptional application of principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Advanced ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to staff across the organization in non-technical terms for understanding.
  • Ability to draft well written technical reports to communicate with staff, management and external customers and suppliers.
  • Basic principles and practices of budget preparation and administration; developing cost estimates for supplies and equipment.
  • Advanced ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and/or deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and/or Computerized Automated Design (CAD)/Electrical CAD software, Parts & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) software and Inventor at an Intermediate to advance level.
  • Strong ability to read schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, etc.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification highly desirable.
  • Must be able to see/focus for close eye work (small figures), and discriminate colors.
  • Requires close (clear vision at 20 inches or less), and distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more) vision.
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up/down or left/right while eyes are fixed on a point) and depth vision (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships) are required to troubleshoot and correct machine issues and operate a forklift.
  • Must be able to speak/hear to fulfill verbal communications and respond to machine alarms/buzzers.
  • Must wear safety shoes in required areas.
  • Must be able to work extended hours per the demands of the business.
  • Travel, up to 5% as required, to support the needs of the business.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and remain qualified as a Driver under the Hydranautics Driver Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in motivating the project team and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Manages the project using effective project controls and procedures.
  • Communicates with stakeholders, engineers, maintenance, and subcontractors related to project risk, timetables, costs/budgets, and change management.
  • Conducts pre-planning, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Determines the sub-contracting strategy for the project and prepare front-end documents and bid processes under various project delivery models.
  • Creates and analyzes monthly reports including cost, schedule, safety, etc. for internal and external use.
  • Formulates contingency plans for potential risks, expanding contractual services and project costs.
  • Interfaces with consultants and other technical personnel on system design and integration.
  • Reviews supplier proposals to ensure all project objectives are met and extra costs avoided.
  • Designs, procures, and installs facility electrical and production equipment.
  • Conducts root-cause analysis along with other engineers across a functional organizational matrix.
  • Supports department compliance on required documentation; serves as resource for training maintenance.
