About The Position

GHD is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer to join their team in Seattle, WA or Portland, OR. This role involves project coordination for petroleum hydrocarbon site assessment and remediation projects, contributing to the company's commitment to environmental sustainability. The position requires a blend of fieldwork, technical skills, and project management to support the contamination, assessment, and remediation (CAR) business group.

Requirements

  • 4 year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science or equivalent
  • 3-5+ years of related experience in environmental project management, investigation, remediation, and monitoring
  • Ability to perform field work and travel overnight
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Basic understanding of the Washington State Department of Ecology Model Toxics Control Act
  • Self-motivated, organized, and hard-working with strong written and technical skills
  • Commitment to safety utilizing a behavior-based safety culture
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support project managers with field implementation of work plans
  • Prepare Health and Safety Plans
  • Prepare drilling bids and procure subcontractors
  • Plan and coordinate field work
  • Oversee subcontractors during various field activities
  • Collect soil, groundwater, vapor, and surface water samples
  • Log soil using the Unified Soil Classification System
  • Oversee installation of monitoring wells and soil vapor probes
  • Resolve problems due to unexpected field conditions
  • Support clients during emergency response projects
  • Prepare budgets and schedules
  • Assist with report writing to document field activities and findings
