About The Position

The Staff Engineer, Water/Wastewater position at GFT Infrastructure, Inc involves system design work including the preparation of contract drawings and specifications for various water and wastewater facilities. The role includes oversight and management of design-related activities for projects, determining client requirements, and developing necessary documentation. The engineer will work with clients and other disciplines to prepare plans and execute design activities as dictated by the Statement of Work (SOW). Responsibilities also include reviewing vendor drawings, consulting with construction personnel, and ensuring that production drawings and specifications meet all required standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 4 years of experience designing wastewater and water facilities.
  • Experience in transportation design including grading, storm drain systems, culverts, open channel flow, storm water management, and erosion and sediment control.
  • Proficiency in design software, automated and engineering design equipment, GIS, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system design work including preparation of contract drawings and specifications for water supply sources, pumping stations, treatment facilities, storage facilities, and collection systems.
  • Provide general oversight, control, and management of design-related activities for projects.
  • Determine client requirements and develop specifications, drawings, instructions, and related documents.
  • Collaborate with clients and other disciplines to prepare plans and execute design activities.
  • Review vendor drawings and evaluate the need for design changes, making project recommendations.
  • Consult with construction personnel regarding field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Ensure production drawings and specifications meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
