As a Staff Engineer within the Shared Platform Services team, you will be instrumental in leading and contributing to the functional, system, and automation testing of various Zscaler features and solutions as well as expand automation coverage and infrastructure to enhance testing quality and efficiency. This is a hybrid role, reporting in the San Jose, CA office 3 days a week. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Software Engineering, you'll be responsible for collaborating across Development, Product Management, and Federal Cloud Operations teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products through design, testing, and release. You will lead functional, system, and automation testing efforts, expanding automation coverage and ensuring efficiency and robust quality assurance. Additionally, you will manage Federal cloud processes, including deployment procedures, monitoring, and resolving escalations in collaboration with Federal operations and support teams. Investigating and resolving complex production issues by identifying root causes, verifying fixes, and developing comprehensive test plans for manual and automated testing will also be part of your responsibilities. You will contribute to team growth by hiring and training new talent, fostering a culture of inclusivity, and staying updated on evolving technologies and practices.

  • US Citizenship required
  • 5+ years of Software Development/Quality Assurance experience, preferably in networking and security environments
  • Strong expertise in cloud-hosted applications, database operations (MySQL, data modeling, Rest APIs), and microservices architecture
  • Skilled in automation frameworks and scripting (Python, TCL, Shell, etc.)
  • Proficient in Internet and Security protocols (TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS)
  • Experienced with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Ansible for deployment and monitoring
  • Skilled in system performance, load, and scale testing
  • Ability to troubleshoot cloud issues, automate deployment scripts, and manage production rollouts
  • Strong communication, self-motivation, and task-prioritization skills
  • Experience collaborating across remote teams
  • Degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with AI in testing, automation, and leading quality teams
  • Familiarity in FedRAMP qualification and enterprise network security deployments (Proxy, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Linux system administration, traffic generation tools (Ixia, Spirent), Active Directory, VPN clients, and operating systems (Linux/Mac/Windows)
  • Certifications in cloud, networking, and automation
  • Understanding of authentication systems (LDAP, SAML), encryption solutions, and debugging Linux systems
