About The Position

This role is for a Structures Design Staff Engineer on the Defense Integrated Manufacturing Engineering – Production Engineering team. The Production Engineering team is aligned by engine component commodity / value stream and dedicated to improving production hardware flow across all Defense Engines products. The team’s primary focus is to improve robustness and efficiency of the technical disposition of non-conforming material impacting production engines and spares parts flow. Additionally, the team will partner collaboratively with the manufacturing operations and product quality functions with a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • At least 5 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical design engineering for combustors and structural components.
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline.
  • Serves as best practice/quality resource.
  • Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area.
  • Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Takes new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.
  • Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
