About The Position

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. Impacts the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required. This role is responsible for the theory, design, development and practical implementation of product safety engineering methodologies and techniques for equipment and devices. It involves executing a process to identify and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design to an acceptable level, conducting rigorous safety risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and utilizing human factors principles to drive design improvements in order to eliminate human error in the operation and maintenance of the product in the field. The position requires specialized knowledge within the function, influences the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation. It involves interpreting simple internal and external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes or services, staying informed of industry trends, and using high levels of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. The individual must be able to assess quality of information, ask pertinent questions, offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters, and construct and provide recommendations. They will use multiple internal and some external sources outside of their own function to help arrive at a decision. The role may involve leading functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity, and communicating difficult concepts to influence others' opinions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Engineering OR Physics from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation safety
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Ability to prove U.S. Person status (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee or refugee status) for access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Responsibilities
