The Staff Engineer-Human Factors is responsible for influencing engine design, technical data and key processes so as to reduce the risk of human error and increase human efficacy. In addition, you will support cross functional teams for the purposes of field investigation, training across the enterprise and institutionalizing human factors principles at GE Aerospace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the theory, design, development and practical implementation of product safety engineering methodologies and techniques for equipment and devices.
  • Execute a process to identify and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design to an acceptable level.
  • Conduct rigorous safety risk assessments and hazard evaluations.
  • Utilize human factors principles to drive design improvements in order to eliminate human error in the operation and maintenance of the product in the field.
  • Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interpret simple internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  • Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Use high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct and provide recommendations.
  • Use multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Communicate difficult concepts and may influence others' opinions on particular topics.
  • Guide others to consider a different point of view.
