The Components Engineer will provide support to the design, development, prototype fabrication, and design verification testing of communications system equipment. Types of hardware include receivers, transmitters, and digital processors, for avionics and ground mobile communications systems applications. Analyzes, researches, designs, develops and documents requirements for electronic and electro-mechanical components used in electronics hardware.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education / Experience: 12 Years with Bachelors of Science; 10 Years with Masters, 8 years with PhD.
  • Experience working with electronic hardware, component evaluations and DMS tracking.
  • Experience in evaluating electronic component technology and related possible failure mechanisms.
  • Solid understanding of managing large tables of data, utilizing data functions in Excel such as V-Lookup, X-Lookup, pivot tables, etc.
  • Ability to learn to use and administer the CE team's DMS database in MS Access.
  • Experience writing material, process and electronic component requirements specifications.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Printed Circuit board manufacturing process and soldering materials, process and failure analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams.
  • Knowledge of MS Access, MS SQL, or other database tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the design, development, prototype fabrication, and design verification testing of communications system equipment.
  • Analyze, research, design, develop and document requirements for electronic and electro-mechanical components used in electronics hardware.
  • Represent/Lead Electrical, Electronic and Electro-mechanical (EEE) components engineering function on team activities.
  • Lead efforts in tracking DMS (diminishing manufacturing sources) data on components and identifying new/replacement components.
  • Develop/design metrics and criteria to execute parts management plans for programs.
  • Conduct capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
  • Review and approve supplier and subcontractor material processing procedures.
  • Provide component review dispositions for non-conformances, including subcontractors.
  • Analyze non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Recommend corrective actions to address non-conformances and failure analyses.
  • Perform benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
