In this context, Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. is seeking a highly talented, motivated, creative, and experienced Electrical / Power Electronics Engineer. For this important role, our expectations are to support various product development activities and utilize industry and technical expertise and experience to perform engineering work to support the development and/or design of new products, component selection, bench testing, Verification & Validation and such.

Requirements

  • BSEE or higher (MS preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience designing switch-mode power supplies.
  • Hands-on experience (design verification, troubleshooting) a plus.
  • Experience with high voltage power supplies a plus.
  • Good understanding of basic converter topologies.
  • Good understanding of analog circuits.
  • Familiarity with schematics capture and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with digital electronics.
  • Ability to grasp technical topics and abstract key issues and risks in an actionable form.
  • Well organized with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Energy and enthusiasm.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Self-motivated with problem solving skills and the curiosity to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Design, modify and evaluate electronic circuitry, parts, and components for high voltage power supplies.
  • Design/Modify standard Spellman High Voltage power supplies per customer requirements, including developing schematics and circuit topologies to address customer applications.
  • Design verification to system requirements.
  • Plan and perform unit validation testing on power supplies.
  • Write and maintain technical documents such as acceptance test procedure, prototype documentation, and technical user interface manuals.
  • Support manufacturing department employees (test technicians, assemblers, etc.) to answer any questions/concerns on new and existing products and procedures.
  • Work on new OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) custom High Voltage DC power sources to fulfill high-tech customer requirements from design, verification, validation of specification, testing and documentation.
  • Issue engineering change notice, deviations and design reviews reports based on failure analysis, customer feedback and new development release.
  • Support quality team on corrective action and preventive action plans, and conduct annual ISO and EMS audits in collaboration with the quality team as internal auditor.
  • Work with cross functional team members at other Spellman sites.
  • Work with technical drawings and schematics in AutoCAD, Altium, P-CAD and issue changes as required.
  • Carry out appropriate circuit simulations and modeling to support design trade-off studies and project anticipated design performance with support from the project leads and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites as required for technical product/application support for installation or troubleshooting.
  • Interface with peers in the Engineering team to implement features desired as described in product and application requirements.
  • Support the review and interpretation of internal/external customer requirements.
  • Cross-functionally communicate key development updates, risks and timeline on projects as well as presenting to the Engineering management as required.
