Marvell's semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, automotive, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities. At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead. As a DSP Staff Engineer on our Storage team, you will design algorithms to make sure the architecture for new chip projects meets our customers' demands in terms of performance and complexity.

  • Develop algorithmic or analytical solutions for optimization of the NAND flash controller for solid-state-drives (SSDs).
  • Develop read voltage thresholds optimizers to enhance/improve error correction performance in NAND Flash devices.
  • Implement reinforcement learning algorithms for the optimization problems by considering it as sequential decision making.
  • Develop a novel reordering algorithm of read retry thresholds (RRTs) and a deep-retry criterion to enhance the read speed of SSDs by minimizing the average codeword decoding time.
  • Develop solutions for problems related to flash channel/system data paths: algorithms, architecture, characterization, modeling and verification support.
  • Work on design and optimization that includes traditional methods or derivations of novel frameworks/technologies or on machine learning (ML).
  • Write Python scripts for data analysis, post-processing, and unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning or supervised learning for classification and regression with various ML configurations and loss functions towards optimization problems with different underlying conditions and high dimensional parameter and observation spaces.
  • Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Alternatively, Employer will accept a PhD or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Must have work/research experience or/and completed graduate coursework with each of the following: Mathematical foundation in Probability theory, Information theory, Data Science in Python, Machine learning theory and practice, Digital Communication and Coding, Error correcting codes, Resource constraint channel coding, Polar coding research.
