About The Position

Arconic is currently in search of a Staff Electrical Engineer to support our Aerospace and Automotive Products business unit within our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, IA. GRP is made up of Arconic's rolling operations around the world with manufacturing and commercial sites in North America, South America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Asia, and Russia. As suppliers to the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation, building and construction, industrial, and packaging and consumer goods markets, our high-quality materials are the foundation for many products that touch everyday life. Since it opened in 1948, Arconic's Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs 2,400 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry. Through continued modernization, including a $300 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world's premier aerospace supply plant and is today the hub of Alcoa's $3 billion aerospace business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at time of employment from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 7 years experience as an electrical engineer.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience designing, installing, maintaining electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Project programs.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in a variety of settings (shop floor, peers, plant leadership, etc).
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

Nice To Haves

  • 12 years of experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • 5 years experience with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives & motors and measuring devices.
  • 3 years or more of experience in leading electrical projects.
  • Manufacturing experience in a highly industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell programming software (i.e.: RS Logix and FactoryView).

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering services to the Hot Rolling department to safely meet Arconic's business plan by providing support to production, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Coordinate all phases of assigned area electrical engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure.
  • Lead and participate in problem solving efforts with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production.
  • Use PI Vision and Data Link to analyze process issues and provide input to solve process problems.
  • Create and develop electrical control solutions that will support process improvements and improve equipment reliability.
  • Assist production and maintenance with equipment and process issues.
  • PLC/HMI and controls redesign and upgrades of existing processes.
  • Install and troubleshoot camera systems on industrial equipment.
  • Incorporate SMART Manufacturing principles and tools into automated inspection systems to improve processes, data collection/analysis, and drive quick results in recovery improvements.
  • May mentor employees to increase their knowledge of equipment and process, when needed.
