Summary As a Dry Etch Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will support the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of Dry Etch equipment at Micron’s Manassas, Virginia site. Working closely with production team members and engineering partners, you will monitor tool health, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot system issues, and help ensure safe, consistent manufacturing operations. This role is essential for maintaining tool uptime, improving process stability, and supporting Micron’s mission to deliver world‑class memory and storage solutions.

Requirements

  • Basic to intermediate understanding of AC/DC circuits, fundamentals of electricity, electronic components, physics concepts, and SPC principles.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic instruments.
  • Ability to work 12‑hour shifts (3/4 schedule), stand for extended periods, lift equipment, and adapt to night‑shift operations when assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry‑related associate degree, progress toward a STEM degree, or equivalent military technical training.
  • Experience with vacuum systems (roughing, turbo, cryo), pressure measurement systems, plasma RF systems, and plasma etch tools such as LAM, AMAT, or TEL platforms.
  • Experience with robotic systems, plus ability to train and mentor other technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with equipment installations, testing activities, and initial tool qualification tasks.
  • Create and update equipment procedures to support consistent maintenance and operational practices.
  • Increase tool uptime through systematic troubleshooting, root‑cause problem solving, and high-quality workmanship.
  • Document maintenance activities thoroughly using established check sheets, logs, and tracking systems.
  • Monitor daily SPC data, address out‑of-control conditions, and support process stability improvements.
  • Communicate tool status, issues, and risks to the Lead Technician and Lead Engineer.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, basic repairs, and corrective actions on assigned Dry Etch toolsets.
  • Work effectively within a 12‑hour shift schedule while maintaining flexibility in job responsibilities and shift assignments.
