About The Position

The Staff Development Nurse at Whitefish Care and Rehabilitation is responsible for coordinating and conducting orientation for new hires and addressing the educational needs of the facility. This role is integral to the management team and reports directly to the Director of Nursing. The position requires a strong background in nursing, particularly in geriatrics, and emphasizes the importance of ongoing education and compliance with facility policies.

Requirements

  • Current RN or LPN license in the State of Montana.
  • At least two years of experience as a licensed nurse preferred.
  • Evidence of continuing education in geriatric nursing and long-term care preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Experience in adult education and learning concepts/principles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct orientation for all new facility hires.
  • Assess and address the educational needs of the facility.
  • Support and promote practices consistent with the nursing department's mission and policies.
  • Delegate clinical and managerial responsibilities to staff as needed.
  • Serve as a leader and resource for staff in clinical and managerial decision-making.
  • Monitor staff compliance with facility policies through rounds and documentation review.
  • Identify problems and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing.
  • Develop and implement the Facility's Quality Assessment & Assurance (QA&A) program.
  • Assist in facility inspections or investigations by regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct meetings to communicate policy changes to staff.
  • Prepare written and oral reports for the Director of Nursing.
  • Assist with clinical emergencies and transfers to hospitals as needed.
  • Plan and coordinate the educational program for the facility.
  • Provide individual and specialized training for staff.
  • Coordinate annual clinical skills testing for CNAs and licensed nurses.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate facility-wide orientation for new hires and follow up on their concerns.
  • Manage certification renewals and coordinate CPR training.
