The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating ongoing educational and instructional programs, and for the development of reporting for measurement of training needs and results. The SDC is responsible for the supervision of CNAs. The Davis Community is a vibrant senior living neighborhood and has been a proud corporate citizen of Wilmington, NC for over 60 years.   • Recruit, interview and evaluate CNA applicants, hire and discharge as needed.
  • Complete CNA performance evaluations on personnel, awarding merit increases fairly and consistently.
  • Participate in weekly new hire orientation to include vaccinations and staff training.
  • Encourage and facilitate further study and experience through in-house inservices, outside workshops and training and through Clinical Lattice Program, and state approved on-site facility classes.
  • Assess current and future training/educational and instructional needs to include all disciplines and shifts.
  • Assure quality education and training by utilization of authoritative resources and best practices.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate programs to meet assessed needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize various training techniques to optimize staff learning.
  • Develop continual education support materials to be used for reference once training has been completed.
  • Develop, implement, teach and evaluate staff competency programs, which will demonstrate accepted practice standards.
  • Continually assess, evaluate, implement training progress and training procedures to monitor and analyze course effectiveness and update curriculum as needed.
  • Develop benchmarks of program effectiveness and measure that effectiveness through data assessment.
  • Consult with managers and supervisors to assess training needs and utilize as a resource for training.
  • Provide educational support to all nursing staff personnel consistently throughout their 90-day orientation period and further as needed.
  • Coordinate new employee initial and annual tuberculin skin tests and/or screenings to maintain accurate records.
  • Promote and coordinate annual flu vaccinations to employees of the campus.
  • Perform random screenings per policy.
  • Participate in various human resources and quality initiatives and activities as needed.
  • Support employee relations and engagement to ensure practices that maintain positive culture and staff retention.
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge and knowledge of LTC licensure requirements.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current NC licensure as RN, A.P.I.C preferred.
  • Two years previous geriatric and/or teaching experience.
