About The Position

The Cybersecurity Group at SandboxAQ is looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to build the engineering platform for AQtive Guard, our groundbreaking solution for modern non-human identity and cryptography management. As we deploy globally with major organizations like top-tier financial institutions and government agencies, the speed, quality, and security of our software delivery are critical to our success. In this role, you will champion developer experience by designing, building, and scaling the automation and tooling that streamlines our entire software development lifecycle. You will be a subject matter expert on CI/CD, build systems, and developer productivity, creating the platform that enables our engineers to ship high-quality code rapidly and reliably. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, removing friction for developers, and building the internal products that make engineering teams faster and happier.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of production experience in a DevOps, Platform, or Developer Productivity role
  • Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines
  • Production experience with build systems & toolchains spanning multiple languages
  • Advanced scripting and software development skills for building automation and internal tools (e.g., Go, Python, Bash)
  • Experience managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform

Nice To Haves

  • Production experience building artifacts in a monorepo
  • Production experience with any hermetic build system, but especially Bazel
  • Proficiency with containerization and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
  • Experience managing and securing data infrastructure like Kafka and Postgres at scale
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio
  • General knowledge of cryptography

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of projects in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating a tolerance for ambiguity and a proactive approach to getting things done
  • Build and refine our CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, secure, and reliable software delivery for services written in Kotlin, Go, Rust, and Python, and deployed on Kubernetes
  • Develop and maintain internal tools, scripts, and automation to simplify developer workflows, manage dependencies, and standardize deployments on Kubernetes
  • Act as an advocate for developer experience, actively seeking out and eliminating friction in the engineering workflow from local development to production
