The Staff Dentist is responsible for the provision of dental services in a Patient Centered Health Home context, with a focus on access to care.

  • Responsible for the direct provision of dental services meeting all established productivity expectations.
  • Provide comprehensive dental examination and review appropriate x-rays, medical and dental histories to determine a diagnosis.
  • Document visits accurately utilizing appropriate templates, and record relevant data to attain a diagnosis.
  • Accountable for attaining budgeted visits.
  • Meet clinical care measures.
  • Lock records in the 72 hour window.
  • Perform diagnostic, preventive and restorative oral procedures.
  • Evaluate the current health and condition of the patient’s teeth to determine the diagnosis of any existing dental condition.
  • Inform patients on how to prevent dental problems and keep their teeth and mouth as healthy as possible.
  • Consider treatment methods and explain options with the patient to determine which works best based on their situation.
  • Refer patients to orthodontists, oral surgeons, periodontists or other specialists for more advanced dental procedures and treatment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and care.
  • Behave with courtesy when interacting with patients/family members, support staff and Network staff.
  • Listen to patients/family members and show an understanding of patients’ needs.
  • Provide the patient with educational materials and resources appropriate to the patient’s health literacy needs.
  • Accountable for patient status as measured by relevant clinical quality measures.
  • Remain aware of wait time during the daily workflow.
  • Promote and participate in daily huddles.
  • Incorporate the participation of ancillary health team members in managing the care of the patients/families.
  • Assist in the assurance of clinical procedures and the maintenance of up-to-date clinical protocols.
  • Observe and assure OSHA, and Standard Precautions are maintained.
  • Interact with professional medical staff in rendering comprehensive care to mutual patients.
  • Complete chart and peer review responsibility in a timely manner.
  • Assist supervisors in planning and implementing new programs for the dental department.
  • Participate in Network Health Fairs, screening activities and other community outreach events.
  • Assist the supervisor with input for performance evaluations of support staff and quality improvement.
  • Assist the NDD /CDD with the review and update of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to dental residents and dental assistant externs.
  • Participate in site and provider meetings in a meaningful way.
  • Participate with 'On Call' coverage, per schedule.
  • Meet Network and credentialing expectations for licensure, and employment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Extensive formal training in Dental studies, usually in the form of a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine Doctor degree.
  • Licensed in the state of California as a Dentist.
  • Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • $178,404.65 - $285,447.44 salary range.
