About The Position

This senior data science role is responsible for shaping product measurement, experimentation, and analytical strategy to drive better business and user outcomes. The Staff Data Scientist will lead complex, multi-team initiatives, defining how success is measured, optimizing decision-making, and building scalable analytics systems. The role combines deep technical expertise with strategic influence, enabling cross-functional teams to focus on the highest-impact opportunities. You will not only run analyses but also guide product design, experimentation standards, and measurement frameworks across multiple product surfaces. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience using data to drive product or business decisions in product, growth, engineering, or operations environments.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and strong proficiency in Python or R for building reliable and reusable analytical workflows.
  • Deep expertise in Bayesian experimentation, causal inference, and measurement design, with an understanding of failure modes and mitigations.
  • Strong applied modeling judgment and ability to responsibly build, validate, and launch models.
  • Proven track record of leading ambiguous, cross-team initiatives and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong product sense and ability to prioritize work that drives meaningful outcomes.
  • Motivation to improve access and affordability in a mission-driven industry.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product measurement strategy for major product areas, defining north star and input metrics, and aligning stakeholders on definitions and success criteria.
  • Lead cross-functional, multi-team initiatives with ambiguous paths, driving measurable outcomes from complex product experiments.
  • Establish frameworks for experimentation design, guardrails, decision rules, and interpretation to improve speed and rigor across teams.
  • Develop evaluation systems for complex products, including applied AI, ranking, or matching systems, using offline evaluation, online experiments, and human-quality signals.
  • Build scalable analytical assets such as reusable workflows, dashboards, monitoring tools, and templates to reduce ad hoc analysis.
  • Mentor and coach other data scientists and analytics partners, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
  • Serve as a thought leader, identifying opportunities, shaping roadmaps, and creating clarity where teams encounter challenges.
