The Staff Data Scientist is responsible for leading the design and development of analytical techniques at the intersection of AI/ML and biological sequence data. The work will support both internal R&D processes as well as external customer products, all with the goal of advancing Cepheid’s diagnostic offerings. Th is position reports to the S enio r Director of M achine Learning/Data Science and is part of the AI & Computational Biology group in the larger Technology & Innovation organization . The position is based in Sunnyvale, CA, with consideration for candidates located remotely or in the Boston, MA area. The Technology & Innovation organization is responsible for incubating new products , techniques, and processes that keep Cepheid at the forefront of molecular diagnostics. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Provide though t leadership on challenging problems at the intersection of AI/ML and computational biology Lead the design and development of computational tools that will accelerate molecular diagnostics R&D Build AI/ML models to characterize pathogens from whole genome sequences Explore applications of genomic language models to supervise learning tasks for sequence data Design and implement robust model evaluation frameworks to assess production readiness to meet regulatory and commercialization requirements
