About The Position

This Staff Data Engineer position requires understanding business context, data governance, tech problem formulation, data source identification, data transformation and integration, data modeling, code development and testing, and data strategy. The role involves providing recommendations to business stakeholders, developing business cases, translating requirements into solutions, and interpreting company and regulatory policies on data. It also includes building infrastructure for data transformation, deploying pipelines, creating data models, and reviewing/troubleshooting code. The role drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects, provides supervision and development opportunities for associates, and promotes company policies and values. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related field, OR
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related field, OR
  • Master's degree in Computer Science and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related field.
  • 3 years' experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations to business stakeholders, develop business cases, and translate business requirements into tangible data-related solutions.
  • Establish, implement, and document data governance practices, interpreting company and regulatory policies, and educating others.
  • Formulate technical problems into data-related or mathematical solutions, identifying appropriate methods and tools.
  • Identify and define suitable data sources, perform quality checks, and provide guidance on data sourcing.
  • Build and automate data transformation and integration infrastructure, deploying pipelines using orchestration frameworks.
  • Develop complex logical and conceptual data models across various data platforms, defining techniques for data exposure and maintaining documentation.
  • Review and troubleshoot code, ensuring design meets requirements, identifying appropriate languages/libraries, and leading deployment/patching efforts.
  • Drive the execution of business plans and projects, providing supervision and development opportunities for associates.
  • Promote company policies, values, and ethical standards, ensuring business needs are met and fostering a culture of respect and belonging.
  • Deliver business results by prioritizing customer/member needs, acting with an Every Day Low-Cost mindset, and adopting a holistic perspective.
