About The Position
Solutions Engineers in the Data Platform team act as a deployed engineer, temporarily embedding within customer teams to build solutions and bring the tools of the data platform to product lines within Mirion. This role bridges the Data Platform team with product engineering teams across Mirion, helping them design, build, and deploy data pipelines and analytics solutions using the MEDIAN data platform. You'll be a technical leader, problem-solver, and enabler who works closely with application teams to translate business requirements into scalable, production-grade data solutions while gathering feedback to drive platform improvements. As a Staff Engineer, you'll act with autonomy and vision, using your significant technical expertise and background to tackle complex problems, and own large-scale project delivery.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in data engineering, analytics, or solutions engineering
- Expert-level SQL and strong proficiency in Python or Scala
- Deep experience designing and building data pipelines, ETL/ELT systems, and analytics solutions
- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.)
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or working in a consulting/customer-facing role Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

- Experience with Databricks and Delta Lake.

- Familiarity with data modeling, dimensional design, and analytics best practices.
- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming architectures.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and metadata management.

- Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions.
- Experience building internal platforms or enabling large teams of engineers.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Solutions Architect, working with customer engineering teams to understand their data and analytics needs, then designing and building systems that meet those needs.
- Design and build end-to-end data pipelines and analytics solutions using our in-house MEDIAN data platform (Databricks, Azure, etc.)
- Translate complex business requirements into technical architectures and implementation plans
- Write production-quality code and data models that serve as examples for other teams
- Troubleshoot complex data and integration issues, working across teams and systems
- Collect customer feedback and requirements, and provide your own experiences to feed insights back to the Data Platform team for roadmap prioritization of the MEDIAN platform.
- Mentor junior engineers on the Data Platform Customer Success team and embedded teams on data engineering best practices
- Build and deliver training content and workshops to enable teams to use the data platform independently
- Establish technical patterns and reusable components for common data pipeline and analytics use cases
- Partner with the Product Owner to communicate customer needs and advocate for platform enhancements
