About The Position

As a Staff Construction Project Controls Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our project lifecycle, providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of commercial and industrial projects. You will collaborate closely with our in-house engineering team, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure competitive and realistic project estimates and cost tracking. Your expertise in analyzing project plans, specifications, and related documents will be essential in developing detailed cost breakdowns and identifying potential risks and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a focus on complex or technical commercial projects.
  • Experience with chemical or manufacturing facility construction is a significant plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree (MS preferred) or relevant years of experience (Engineering or Construction management preferred).
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction practices and methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formula creation, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, and potentially chemical or manufacturing facilities.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope of work and material requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and apply appropriate labor and material rates.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of cost information.
  • Collaborate with the in-house engineering team to ensure accurate integration of design and cost data.
  • Negotiate subcontractor change orders and resolve cost-related issues.
  • Continuously research and evaluate new construction materials, methods, and technologies.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
