We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Chief Engineer based out of Orlando, FL. These other locations may also be considered: Bellevue, NE., McLean, VA., or Huntsville, AL. As a Staff Chief Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Cross-Domain Handling of Releasable Data (CHORD) portfolio. CHORD is a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) two-domain Cross Domain Solution (CDS). The CHORD portfolio comprises multiple contract awards and with various customers. The successful candidate will be exceptionally meticulous, collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & personal responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of seeking the best performance from everyone.

  • Be the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (systems/software/gateware/test).
  • Lead a multi-disciplined engineering team managing the technical performance of the program meeting cost and schedule requirements including subcontracted elements.
  • Coordinate requirements development, hardware/software design, verification, and validation activities.
  • Ensure that the program adheres to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test and sustainment of products for customers.
  • Maintain cognizance over technical activities within program sub-teams and ensure horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering and program management to ensure execution of program statement of work and baselines.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact with the customer.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 14 years of related technical experience; or Master's degree in a STEM field and 12 years of related technical experience; or PhD in a STEM field and 10 years of related technical experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Experience as SME, Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Chief Engineer, or other engineering leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, testing and deploying mission critical military systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Agile development teams and ensuring adherence to Agile principles.
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle to translate strategic cyber objectives, technology, and environmental conditions into engineering outcomes and solutions.
  • Experience coordinating directly with customers and end users for requirements development and detailed design.
  • Experience developing a large and complex software system for a US DoD Customer.
  • Experience leading teams of integrated engineering disciplines throughout the lifecycle of development of a large and complex software system.
