About The Position

PING, Inc., maker of PING golf equipment, is seeking a Staff Chemical Engineer who is responsible for developing, implementing, optimizing, and sustaining chemical systems and chemical-process best practices that support manufacturing and assembly operations. Partnering closely with Production and cross-functional engineering teams, this role leads hands-on troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, cost, and throughput. The Staff Chemical Engineer documents standards and process changes, researches and qualifies new materials/chemistries, and applies data-driven methods to validate improvements and communicate results. This position requires the candidate to reside in the Phoenix Metro Area, relocation assistance will be provided. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a properly accredited college or university, in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, plus a minimum two years’ directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding technical chemical information and be able to do analytical and organic chemistry lab work.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a moderate level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), working knowledge of MS SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions & constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and keep up with the administrative requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and documentation of assigned chemical systems, processes, and related production/test equipment; support deployment, as applicable, to off-site sister facilities and other assigned entities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the research, development, qualification, and introduction of new chemicals, chemical systems, and related process technologies in support of manufacturing needs.
  • Lead the introduction of new and revised manufacturing processes and associated documentation; ensure robust, controlled updates to work instructions and standard practices
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing process improvements that align with best practices for ergonomics, safety, and environmental considerations; apply structured problem-solving and waste reduction methods.
  • Provide hands-on support to manufacturing including troubleshooting, implementing manufacturability improvements, operator/technician training on new products and/or processes, documentation compliance, efficiency flowcharts, and general process improvements.
  • Analyze process and product data using appropriate statistical methods; interpret results accurately and communicate findings clearly through reports, graphs, dashboards, or other visual formats.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and management to support new product introductions and ongoing production performance
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable chemical-use regulations (ADEQ, OHSA, EPA) and internal EHS requirements; partner with senior resources (e.g., Environmental leadership) for complex regulatory interpretation and compliance strategy.
  • Collaborate with all engineering disciplines (e.g., Design, Innovation, Project, Soft Goods) and stakeholders related to assigned chemical systems and manufacturing integration.
  • Develop, execute, and validate test methods for product-related components (e.g., lap shear, rheology); document results and recommend actions based on findings.
  • Apply CAD and rapid prototyping/3D printing capabilities to support fixtures, tooling concepts, test setups, and process development needs.
  • Research new chemical materials, capital equipment, and technologies; support evaluations, trials, and implementation planning aligned to manufacturing objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to less senior engineers/technicians as assigned; contribute to standard work and best-practice documentation
  • Occasional domestic and rare overseas travel may be required.
