The Role: We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Chassis Controls organization as a Chassis Feature Strategist at GM’s Milford Proving Ground. Our team delivers world-class vehicle dynamics performance to our customers through innovative chassis control features on the vehicles that will define the next generation of GM’s future. A Chassis Feature Strategist is responsible for calibration activity planning and software content planning for a family of chassis control features(ABS, TCS, ESC, VAF). This role works across multiple projects within a domain to create the strategy, plans, and guardrails that enable high-quality, on-time delivery of software and calibration content. The Feature Strategist connects feature-level technical direction with program execution, making sure the right work is planned, resourced, and sequenced for successful launches. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chassis controls and vehicle dynamics, a clear understanding of calibration and software development lifecycles, and demonstrated ability to think strategically across programs. They will bring excellent planning, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to give clear direction on read-across impacts for problem resolution activities. What You’ll do: Champion the safety of GM’s employees and customers in all planning and decision-making Create and maintain a calibration development plan for assigned features, including: Feature roadmaps and development timelines Calibration work breakdown by program and milestone Alignment with SW stream content, validation, and performance targets Provide resource needs (people, vehicles, facilities, tools) to execute the calibration development plan Provide read-across impact direction for PRTSs, ensuring that: Root causes and solutions are understood at the feature level Impacted programs, variants, and markets are clearly identified Implementation strategy and timing are defined across the programs Partner with Calibration Tech Spec, Program Leads, Product Quality Engineers, SW DREs, and SW ARTs to integrate PRTS solutions into SW and calibration plans Support calibration reviews by defining feature performance expectations, content readiness, and risk areas Maintain a clear view of feature maturity and risk across all programs; drive closure plans where gaps exist Communicate status, risks, and trade-offs for assigned features to Chassis Program Leads, Product Quality Engineers, and leadership Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in planning and decision-making Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Automotive, or related field) 5+ years of experience in chassis controls, brake controls, or related vehicle dynamics systems 3+ years of experience in calibration, software development, or vehicle integration for chassis or braking systems Strong understanding of SW / calibration development and release processes (e.g., V-Model, VeSCoM, SPR delivery) Proven ability to interpret PRTS, understand system/feature-level impact, and guide solution strategies Experience with data-driven decision making, using objective and subjective results to prioritize work Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail and timing dependencies High level of oral and written communication skills High level of interpersonal and collaboration skills across multiple disciplines Possess a valid driver’s license, and ability to obtain GM Level 3 driving certification Ability to travel for winter testing activities in January / February – as needed Ability to travel for development & ride trips interspersed throughout the year What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills) Knowledgeable in vehicle dynamics & subjective vehicle evaluation Experience with controls / algorithm development Current GM Level 3 driver or higher Performance driving or Off-Road driving enthusiast First-hand experience with GM calibration and development processes Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team of engineers Experience and comfort interacting with senior leaders Experience working with global teams Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
