The Staff Chaplain is responsible for providing Spiritual Care as part of the patient care programs. This ministry is directed primarily to patients and the families of patients, but also to the employees, medical staff and students of the institution. This position works closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a total intervention/counseling service and requires a service oriented individual with the ability to relate to the critically and/or terminally ill, handicap, disadvantaged, and individuals of various ethnic groups. Work situations are frequently non-routine and require sensitivity, the use of discretion, good judgment, and diplomacy. Internal contacts include staff and management throughout the organization. External contacts include patients, families, local clergy, religious lay groups, and outside service agencies. MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital is a 388-bed acute-care hub serving Puyallup and East Pierce County.
