The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks applicants for a Staff Biostatistician or Senior Biostatistician position. Biostatisticians collaborate with clinical and biomedical researchers to design and implement research studies and disseminate findings through publications. Biostatisticians are responsible for planning and conducting data management, designing and performing reproducible statistical analyses, writing technical reports, interpreting study results, and assisting with abstract and manuscript preparation. They remain current with statistical methodologies, programming tools, and relevant literature. Additionally, they assume leadership roles in research projects by participating in scientific discussions, coordinating data collection and quality control efforts, and contributing to writing teams. The successful candidate will primarily support interdisciplinary research projects funded by a multi-institutional, NCI-funded U54 Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) grant focused on childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This work will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Hong Zhu, Co-Director of the U54 Biostatistics and Data Management Core and Faculty Director of the Biostatistics and Population Science Shared Resource at the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center. The biostatistician will contribute to project reporting, research publications, and grant proposals, while also collaborating with investigators across the department, Cancer Center, and School of Medicine on clinical, basic science, and population health research. This is a restricted employment position based on funding.
