About The Position

Back Market is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer for our Product Engineering organization. The role involves understanding customer needs and business vision, working with team leaders across the tech division to define our architecture vision, and making high-judgment decisions to ensure maintainable software solutions. The engineer will help the team scale while delivering efficiently and pragmatically, demonstrating technical leadership and mentoring team engineers. The position requires a hands-on impact in the software development lifecycle and a deep and broad expertise in technical work and architectural designs.

Requirements

• Expertise in Go, even if the main language is Python at Back Market.
• Technical expertise in building distributed systems addressing complex issues.
• Experience successfully operating in a service-oriented architecture.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Take accountability for the entire technical ecosystem, including tools, languages, system lifecycle management, and software practices.
• Challenge and support the technical vision of the company and the organizational effectiveness according to the roadmap.
• Demonstrate clear and fluent communication skills, including the ability to speak internally and publicly at major events.
• Define and contribute to the continuous improvement of Back Market technical KPIs.
• Contribute actively to the company's external visibility through networking, speaking at tech events, and open-source contributions.
• Operate across the entire tech division, entrusted with critical projects and initiatives.
