Role Summary As an automation engineer (LabVIEW), you'll play a crucial role in enhancing our automated station software. Initially, you'll focus on critical updates, before transitioning to the development of our LabVIEW base software. Your work will be key in refining our processes, maturing our software systems, and significantly reducing test engineering time during station commissioning. Additionally, you'll contribute to software updates for automated PCBA testers and help establish an internal database for critical data.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years LabVIEW programming experience.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and strategies for creating reusable code and frameworks
  • Experience with modular test instruments and National Instruments I/O Systems (PXI, cDAQ).
  • Experience testing automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN).
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer hardware, communication, and bus. protocols (RS232, CAN, GPIB, Ethernet, USB).
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Self-motivated: Demonstrated ability to set direction and guide the team towards it.
  • Hands-on approach: Proactively identifies and fills in gaps where needed

Nice To Haves

  • CLA or CLD certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test automation applications in LabVIEW interfacing with National Instrument's hardware.
  • Develop data acquisition and analysis applications.
  • Work closely with test engineer to ensure test equipment designs align with the software and hardware requirements.
  • Identify, source and integrate off-the-shelf solutions.
  • Understand how to read electrical schematics and use manufacturers' product data sheets.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to enhance existing LabVIEW software, expanding our reusable test framework and instrument libraries.
  • Ability to utilize standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators and power meters.
  • Ability to use instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, hygrometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters.
  • Support technical root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing.
  • Participate in design reviews, requirement reviews, DFMEAs, PFMEAs and Hazard Analyses.
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
