Are you an attorney who would like the challenge of working for the Department for Local Government? Are you interested in state and local government law? We offer an opportunity for an attorney with at least two years of experience to provide legal advice and representation within the Department for Local Government and provide technical and compliance assistance to local government officials regarding various federal and state laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Handling federal and state civil litigation. Handling hearings before administrative bodies. Performing complex legal research and analysis. Preparing appellate briefs and oral arguments. Providing accurate and timely legal advice and assistance. Assisting with open records questions and appeals. Providing training to Department staff and local officials. Testifying before legislative bodies. The ideal candidate will have: Good attention to detail. Knowledge of employment law. Local government law experience. Trial or administrative hearing experience. Knowledge of open records or administrative regulation law. Strong analytical ability. The desire to gain trial or administrative hearing experience. A willingness to work as part of a team.
