About the position

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC), through strategic partnerships, prepares the federal law enforcement community to safeguard America's people, property, and institutions. We are a unique inter-agency organization preparing the next generation of law enforcement officers to meet our Nation's most pressing security challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the assigned supervisor's calendar, scheduling appointments and conferences without prior clearance and establishing schedule priorities at your own discretion.
  • Providing administrative training and assistance to staff members. Assisting supervisors in preparing reports, agendas, meeting minutes, and other documents.
  • Serving as a liaison between the assigned supervisor and various internal and external stakeholders. Responding to general questions concerning the assigned organization's issues, processes, and procedures.
  • Preparing, coordinating, processing, and tracking the movement of the assigned organization's personnel actions, training requests, conference approval forms, and travel authorizations or vouchers.
  • Consulting with staff principals to determine and correct factual or conceptual inaccuracies or inconsistencies in relevant documents.
  • Informing originators of omissions and deviations to policy.
  • Developing procedures for the control and access to office records and files.
  • Maintaining and updating files, including office correspondences, reports, records, publications, regulations, directives, time and attendance records, and overtime forms.
  • Tracking the budget allocations for travel, training, equipment, supplies, and credit card purchases.
  • Notifying the appropriate parties of the status of funds.
  • Preparing justifications used in the assigned organization's budget process.
  • Conducting market research; generating purchase requisitions and related documentation; inputting requisitions into the agency's financial management system; making purchases with the government purchase card and reconciling expenditures against allocations; certifying receipt of products or services; and maintaining accurate and complete records of transactions.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Current and former federal employees within the General Schedule (GS) must meet the time-in-grade requirements outlined in the qualifications section.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver's license to conduct official government business.
  • Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • This position is eligible for situational-only telework based on agency policy.
  • Overtime may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing complex administrative functions.
  • Successful completion of one and a half years of graduate-level education (27 semester hours) from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position.
  • An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate level education.
