About The Position

Apollo, the Beaverton, OR satellite location of Inpria Corporation, a JSR Company, invites applications for a full-time Staff Analytical Chemist. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join the Analytical team and contribute to the development of advanced mass spectrometry-based capabilities. We seek candidates capable of adhering to routine analysis workflow while also working across multiple projects around metals analysis of organic solvents used for photolithography. The Analytical Chemist’s role will involve comprehensive ownership of analytical instrumentation including routine sample preparation and analysis, data processing and reporting, method development and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemistry or related field.
  • One year of analytical chemistry coursework including laboratory work or equivalent industrial laboratory experience.
  • Strong analytical mindset with critical focus on accuracy, consistency, and reproducibility.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work with scientists and engineers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Highly adaptable, self-motivated, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read SDSs and understand the chemical hazards to yourself and the environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of quality project outcomes to stakeholders and continuous improvement of the standard of analysis is desired.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without the need for employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds from floor to table height.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and mouse for computer data entry and/or analysis, and for presenting data.
  • Ability to wear standard cleanroom attire in areas that require it.
  • Ability to wear standard PPE in areas that require it.
  • Ability to precisely handle small bottles, packages, labels, and other materials.
  • Ability to wear a respirator (upon training/certification) for processes that may require it.
  • Ability to use a glovebox with thick rubber gloves to accurately pour, pipet, mix, and handle chemicals in small vials or bottles.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in analytical instrumentation (ICP-MS, ICP-OES, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS) and quality control is desired.
  • Specific expertise in inorganic mass spectrometry analysis of organic matrices is desired.
  • Basic understanding of handling air-sensitive reagents in a glovebox is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Work in tandem with laboratory head to meet customer needs.
  • Occasional weekend/holiday support is required depending on business needs.
  • Provide analytical services for trace metal testing via ICP-MS on reagents, in-process samples, and finished goods by following documented work instructions under the direction of senior chemists, including but not limited to routine sample preparation and analysis, data reporting, method development and instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • The work will take place in a cleanroom environment having specific gowning and personal protection equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Enter the QC data to QMS system and monitor SPC charts.
  • Support additional analytical tests as needed, including but not limited to titration and GCMS.
  • Undertake administrative functions and obligations primarily connected with Apollo team including procurement and facilities operations.
  • Coordinate outsourced analytical testing with external laboratories to support project requirements.
  • Regularly update lab inventory (chemicals and consumables).
  • Actively participate in meetings to disseminate data findings as needed.
  • Frequently communicate and engage with a diverse team of chemists, engineers, and technicians to improve analytical procedures.
  • Demonstrate consistent techniques and maintain a clean, safe lab workspace.
  • Occasionally commute to Corvallis office/lab.
  • Other duties as assigned.
