About The Position

We are seeking a Staff Airframe & Structures Engineer to provide technical leadership for aircraft structural design, airframe architecture, and configuration management of physical hardware across unmanned aircraft platforms. This role serves as a primary technical authority for airframe and structural decisions, ensuring that aerodynamic performance, structural integrity, manufacturability, and subsystem integration are balanced across the vehicle lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace or UAVs.
  • Deep experience with aircraft structures and airframe integration.
  • Proven experience taking hardware from concept through production.
  • Strong background in system-level mechanical design and configuration control.
  • Expert-level proficiency with CAD and engineering drawing release practices.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) from an accredited university.
  • At least 10 years engineering experience in aerospace or related technology field with at least 3 years’ experience in a rapid development environment.
  • It is an essential requirement for the person in this role to have a legal right to work in the United States and be eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization and DoD Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with composite airframes and bonded structures.
  • Experience integrating COTS avionics, antennas, and electronics into aircraft.
  • Familiarity with aerospace environmental standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810).
  • Experience supporting flight test and resolving structural or integration issues.
  • Prior technical leadership or architecture ownership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Own airframe and structural architecture across an aircraft platform.
  • Define and drive structural concepts, load paths, and integration strategies from early design through production.
  • Lead cross-disciplinary packaging of electrical, avionics, propulsion, and mechanical systems into the airframe.
  • Serve as the primary owner of configuration for physical aircraft hardware, including part definition, change control, and design traceability.
  • Review and approve structural designs, layouts, and configuration changes.
  • Review and approve mechanical drawings for assigned platforms, ensuring architectural consistency, adherence to standards, and design quality.
  • Guide trade studies and technical decisions that impact performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Mentor and provide technical direction to Senior and Mid-level Mechanical Engineers.
  • Act as a technical interface between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program leadership.
