About The Position

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing essential support in the financial management and tax compliance area. This role involves performing daily accounting tasks such as maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts and responding to tax notices. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of accounting principles, in addition to tax compliance and be highly organized with attention to detail.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Tax Compliance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the general ledger by posting journal entries.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audit purposes.
• Enter financial data into the company's accounting software accurately and in a timely manner.
• Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of sample accounts.
• Identify discrepancies and recommend solutions to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Provide support to the Accounting Manager and other team members as needed.
• Ensure compliance and timely filings in all aspects related to tax, including Corporate Income tax and Sales tax.
• Audit monthly sales tax against general ledger balance.
• Record any accruals and credits with states.
• Register for any new Income and Sales taxes.
• Register for international GST / VAT taxes.
• Audit and file international taxes according to tax law.
• Respond to tax auditors and notices in a timely manner.
• Process customer exemptions to Avalara and maintain a quarterly audit.
• Respond to Merchant Chargeback cardholder disputes.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
