About The Position

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for one (1) full-time Staff Accountant in the Finance Department. This is a full time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. Hybrid schedule available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Strong Bookkeeping and Accounting experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Knowledge of Fund Accounting preferred.
  • Familiarity with government funding agencies and private founders.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel
  • A team player, strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized and detail-oriented; able to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Accounting Information System; Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the timely and accurate payment of a high volume of invoices and maintains accounts payable system: accurately entering, coding and processing invoices.
  • Lead agency’s efforts to obtain competitive pricing for its supplies, equipment, insurance, consulting services and other OTPS items.
  • Ensures expenses are allocated to the correct GL expense account, cost center and approved program budget.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate staff training of the expense management system.
  • Communicates with staff and outside vendors to timely resolve any accounts payable related matters.
  • Leads the Agency’s BIPOCs procurement strategic objectives.
  • Performs month-end AP sub-ledger reconciliation and assists during program audits and annual Agency audit.
  • Monitors program budgets regularly to ensure expenditures are within approved budgets.
  • Prepares annual overhead expense projections.
  • Prepares monthly AP reports and participates in meetings when necessary.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate Accounts Payable Specialist.
  • Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
